Big egg hunt - London 2013
Photographs of the eggs in the East Piazza, taken on Wednesday 27th March, 2013 at noon. CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL THE EGGS
The eggs have been photographed starting with Humpty Dumpty in the centre of the East Piazza. To the left of Humpty Dumpty was a bank of 32 eggs in four rows of eight. We traversed them by walking south along the first row, north along the second row, south along the third row and north along the fourth row. On completing the fourth row we moved over to the right bank of eggs, where there were four rows of two. We effectively walked east down the ailse, facing west, photographing the egg to the left and to the right; move east a row, and photograph right, then left, and so on. On completion we went to the shops at the North Piazza (Quicksilver and Original Penguin) and over towards the Piazza building where there were two rows of eggs, that before the weekend were in the East Piazza right bank. We then walked through a shop called Links into the North Hall, the Central Avenue, the South Hall and back to the west end of the North Hall. We then leave the Piazza and go to King Street. We enter Floral Street from the North. The egg that first appeared in King's Cross Station (#91) was moved to the East Piazza for the Easter weekend — front row far left as one faced the eggs from Covent Garden Tube Station. The egg (#51) that has been in the Egg Hospital during the first week had been mended by the Easter weekend and had been placed in the west end of the Central Avenue. The Metro egg that arrived on Wednesday 27th was also placed there. One egg, unfortunately had been stolen (number 53). The Lindt Chocolate Egg Hunt, pictured above, was photographed on the weekend 23rd - 24th March. For the Easter weekend it was the turn of the Moshi Monster Bus. The eggs were all moved around on the evening of Thursday evening 28th. Click here to see the eggs in their original configuration. On Monday 2nd April, with the removal of the Moshi Monster Bus, the configuration remained the same as over the Easter weekend, save that Egg #17 (Chuckaloo) had been moved from the Ted Baker shop to the front window of the Egg Hospital. Egg #89 (Lyra May) appeared in the front window of the Egg Hospital (between #17 Chuckaloo and #70 Phosphorescent) on Thursday evening (4th April). It had been in the front window of the Sanctuary Spa shop in Floral Street where it had been replaced by a bath tub. In total there were 102 eggs to be found (the intended 101 minus 1, for the egg that was stolen, plus 2 extra eggs — #102 Eggspert, which had been the Facebook mascot and the latecomer Metro egg — #103 Eggspertly Dressed. Sometime on Wednesday 26th March, egg #27 (Diagram) was removed from Agnes B for lacquering. The following evening, it was placed outside in the front row, East Piazza. The following photographs were taken on location. Click the thumbnail to open the full size image in a new window. There are more eggs images in the pre Easter weekend configuration. As you will notice, I have photographed some eggs from various view points: close-up, front, back, the sides and even from up above. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m a good egg! When one had found all the eggs one could get their Hunt Book stamped by the Eggsperts. Here’s mine, together with the “I’ve found Humpty Dumpy” sticker: Unwrapping the metro egg (Wednesday, 27th March, 1:30 pm Configuration changes All the eggs were in the same position as they were for the Easter weekend, save various eggs reappeared in the front window of the Egg Hospital as the week went on. Egg #17 (Chuckaloo) was the first to arrive. It had been in the Ted Baker shop. Egg #89 (Lyra May) appeared appeared on Thursday evening (4th April). It had been in the Sanctuary Spa shop in Floral Street. Note that Egg #66 (The Process of Play) had always been in Hackett’s front window, but it had been moved around as the other items in the window had been changed. This photo was taken on Friday 5th April. Egg #65 (Egg Timer) disappeared from the front window of Paul Smith’s front window, also on Friday 5th April, and reappeared wrapped in bubble wrap in the Egg Hospital. It wasn’t on display at that time, but the bubble wrap had been lifted by Saturday evening (6th). Panorama and sound The photograph below shows a 360° panorama of all the eggs in the East Piazza taken at 07:36 on Wednesday 3rd April. The photograph was taken with a camera in paroramic mode facing the Piazza building (west) and then turning 360° to my left, full circle. Eggs #99 (SpongeBob SquarePants) and #100 (Dora the Explorer) had a button on their plinths marked marked“Push me”. Click the images to play a short movie (4.6M and 28M respectively) and hear what happens when the button is pressed (the sound for #100 isn’t very good — sorry). Egg #76 (Tumble) was apparently created by rolling the egg down a mountain in the snow and filming it. The film was projected on to the egg. Click the photo to see the movie (76M). The pre Easter weekend configuration of eggs The following photographs were taken on location. Can you spot the differences? Click the thumbnail to open the full size image in a new window. |
